International Velvet
There are a clutch of reasons to add this bag to your list.
Cofounder of The Fashion Doctors and a graduate of Parsons The New School for Design, Marianna Toroyan organizes some of the hottest fashion shows in Boston, Manhattan, and Miami. One could say her love for creations by the late Italian designer Salvatore Ferragamo is innate, considering that she spent a good deal of time in Italy as a child and now owns a summer home in southern Italy a mere 40 miles from Ferragamo’s birthplace. Like Toroyan, Ferragamo chose Boston as his home stomping ground, working here for a cowboy boot manufacturer. Toroyan tops her holiday list with this oversize blue velvet clutch from Salvatore Ferragamo’s 2012 Resort collection. “This is a definite buy for the evening out this season,” says Toroyan. “It’s formal, modern, and chic with a sleek, sophisticated balance, giving it a tremendous amount of versatility. I love how the understated gold hardware quietly accents the piece,” Toroyan says. Of course, bedazzling is a trademark of Ferragamo, creator of the unforgettable red-sequined stunners worn by Dorothy in Oz.
